Flat Earth in The Holy Quran
The Holy Quran has many verses which help illustrate for the
reader the shape of the earth and the skies above. The Quran speaks of
the earth as a stationary plane which does not move (or rotate or orbit;
for that matter). Here, when we say ‘plane’, we actually mean a flat
platform regardless of the extent of its outlining edges.
Earth may have thickness beneath our feet, still not making it a sphere,
and that is the same as looking at a flat object which has thickness
such as a sheet of plywood or the top of a table where both remain
objects with flat surfaces regardless of their thicknesses. Since man
has not been able to dig deep into the earth, except so far as to
excavate and unearth resources, the thickness of the earth is yet
something to be discovered. In the ball-earth theory earth is given a
diameter and a distance to the core from any surface. The ball-earth
theory would have to have the ball avoiding contact at any pointof its
surface with any other object and therefore it was given a
'suspended-in-space' status.
Believing the Earth is a flat plane, with surface formations (such as
mountains, valleys, hills ... etc), is quite simple when one observs
that water in its nature can only maintain a flat and level surface for
itself. Water does not bend at the surface and this fact has been proven
for any expanse of water surface size and area.
Muslims believe that the Earth and the skies above were
created by the one God of all creations and that the nature of directions,
as it would differ with the ball-earth theory, is we are below and God
is above all. Earth is the flat plane beneath the sky as the sky is a canopy
above it. Once this is established into one's beliefs it would be the
main key to understand how the whole universe around us
was/is built and only then can one find the sky (firmament).
The sky which mainstream media and science books describe is an
emptiness of nothing after ascending to vast heights through the
air we breathe. The holy text urges us to look at the sky and know that
what you're looking at is the perfect underside of a canopy which has been
magnificently created and lifted above the surface of all land, and
which is a barrier between us and all what is above and beyond the canopy.
The Holy Quran has also illustrated that the construction of this solid sky
consists of seven layers of skies; one atop the other. Therefore, when
the Quran mentions 'the sky' it is referring to the lower-most layer in
the sky structure and which is named as 'worldly sky' or 'lower-most
sky'. The Quran also has numerous mentions of 'the skies' and 'the
seven skies' and these mentions do not cause any confusion or
contradiction neither with the description of the sky's structure nor
with the image of the skies which is automatically generated by the
reciter of the Quran; in fact - it starts to make a lot of sense once
one takes it to heart and commits to understanding it.
In the below paragraph we will view verses of the Quran describing the
skies (the heavens above) in detail. The reader is strongly advised to
pay close attention to how materialistic the sky seems to
be as described by the holy text; as opposed to the claims of it being
a vacuum of nothingness; according to "scientists".
The sky is a solid ceiling:
- Quran 21:32

- “And We have made the sky a well-protected ceiling (canopy), still they turn away from its signs.”
- Quran 52:5

- “And by the ceiling (canopy) raised high.”

The sky was constructed and raised:
- Quran 2:22

- "He is the One˺ Who has made the earth a place of settlement for you and the sky a canopy; and sends down rain from the sky, causing fruits to grow as a provision for you. So do not knowingly set up equals to Allah ˹in worship"
- Quran 40:64

- "It is Allah Who made the earth a place of settlement for you and the sky a canopy. He shaped you ˹in the womb˺, perfecting your form. And He has provided you with what is good and lawful. That is Allah—your Lord. So Blessed is Allah, Lord of all worlds."
- Quran 91:5

- “And by the heaven (sky) and the One Who built it.”
- Quran 55:7

- “And for the sky, He raised it high, and set the balance of justice.”
- Quran 51:47

- “We built the sky with great might, and We are certainly expanding it.”
- Quran 88:18

- "...and the sky - how it was raised high"
- Quran 79:27

- "Which is harder to create: you or the sky? He built it."
- Quran 13:2

- "It is Allah Who has raised the heavens without pillars—as you can see—then established Himself on the Throne. He has subjected the sun and the moon, each orbiting for an appointed term. He conducts the whole affair. He makes the signs clear so that you may be certain of the meeting with your Lord. "
- Quran 22:65

- "Do you not see that Allah has subjected to you whatever is in the earth as well as the ships that sail through the sea by His command? He keeps the sky from falling down on the earth except by His permission. Surely Allah is Ever Gracious and Most Merciful to humanity"

The sky is described to experience materialistic physical changes which only apply to solids:
- Quran 77:9

- "...and the sky is torn apart."
- Quran 81:11

- "...and when the sky is stripped away."
- Quran 82:1

- "When the sky splits open."
- Quran 84:1

- "When the sky bursts open."
- Quran 19:90

- "...by which the heavens are about to burst, the earth to split apart, and the mountains to crumble to pieces."
- Quran 25:25

- "Watch for the Day when the sky will burst open vieled with clouds, and the angels will be sent down in successive ranks."
- Quran 39:67

- "They have not shown Allah His proper reverence—when on the Day of Judgment the ˹whole˺ earth will be in His Grip, and the heavens will be rolled up in His Right Hand. Glorified and Exalted is He above what they associate with Him!."
- Quran 52:9

- "...on the day the heavens will be shaken violently."
- Quran 55:37

- "...when the heavens will split apart, becoming rose-red like ˹burnt˺ oil!."
- Quran 69:16

- "And the sky will be so torn that it will be frail."
- Quran 70:8

- "On that day the sky will be like molten brass"
- Quran 73:18

- "It will even cause the sky to split apart. His promise, of judgment, must be fulfilled."

Pieces (fragments or shards) of the sky; describing the sky yet once again as a solid fimament from which fragments or shards can (or may) fall:
- Quran 17:92

- "...or cause the sky to fall upon us in pieces, as you have claimed, or bring Allah and the angels before us, face to face, ... "
- Quran 52:44

- "If they were to see a deadly piece of the sky fall down ˹upon them˺, still they would say, “˹This is just a pile of clouds." ”

The sky has gates:
- Quran 54:11

- "So We opened the gates of the sky with pouring rain.."
- Quran 78:19

- "The sky will be split open, becoming many gates."
- Quran 15:14

- "And even if We opened, for them, a gate in the sky, through which they continued to ascend."
- Quran 7:40

- "Surely those who receive our revelations with denial and arrogance, the gates of heaven will not be opened for them, nor will they enter Paradise until a camel passes through the eye of a needle. This is how We reward the wicked."
